I had a great direct booking for Florida Hospital. This job has become one of my favorites. It started with the AD calling me to talk about the shoot, she asked about my sizes all of which I knew except for my ice skate size. Wait, what? Um, I have never ice skated before, it isn’t on my resume. I haven’t been on roller skates since middle school. She told me it would be fine and all I would have to do is stand. Ok lets do this. Day of shoot I arrive at the Tampa Bay Lightning stadium and sit down next a hockey player. I watch them lace up the skates and head onto the ice. Ok, so that is how they walk on razor blades. I mimicked them and did all right until I walked up to the ice. My blade hit the ice and I realized I was screwed. A player came up to me and asked if I needed help. Yes, why yes I do. He carted me out on the ice and I decided that if I was going to be on the ice for 6 hours I would teach myself to skate. With tips from the players by the end of the night I was skating and knocking pucks around with the team. I also got to spend about two hours chatting with Coach Jon Cooper. He is one impressive dude. He has a law degree, played college hockey and started coaching for fun. He won and won and won and won. Each time his teams won he was brought up the ranks until he was pulled into the NHL. Just goes to show that we all can have some cool stuff happen if we put the work into it. Oh yeah and he is still a licensed lawyer.
