I was contacted by some Fullsail Students a couple of weeks ago. They asked if I would like to be their lead in McDaddy Hearts Tiffany, a story about a virgin business centered pimp who falls in love with one of his girls, Tiffany. I was recommend by one of their professors, Kevin O’Neill. Good Ole Kevin. Sure Thing! This was my first Fullsail student production. I had no idea what I was getting into but I jumped on board. I was blown away by the production value of the student film. We shot in a sound stage on campus. The whole set was built in the sound stage: hallway, bedrooms and main gathering room. As we worked the professors would pop in and talk about how something should work on-set. The students took the notes, cleaned up that hiccup and we moved on. I was impressed by the method of working and teaching. I saw an opportunity here for myself as an actor. Fullsail is casting most weekends for their students films, As an actor who is used to getting paid to work the drive to do student films isn’t great yet I realized what would be possible here. This could be a wonderful place to experiment with fellow actors. Build a troop of who want to work together and make the troop available to the Fullsail students. The students will have talented artist to work with and the actors will have a place we can experiment with methods and techniques, push our boundaries and make discoveries on our craft. Who can i get on board for this?
As I talked to the students I found out an interesting thing that would happen with the footage. Each student would get all the footage and they each would edit together their own version of the film then the professors would watch all the versions and pick sections and a final edit would be put together from a combination of every bodies work.
I look forward to seeing the final product.
